One of her makeup artist’s famous tricks was to line her bottom waterline with a white eye liner, to make her eyes appear bigger and brighter. I’ve been deeply immersed in all things Marilyn Monroe lately, by watching the show Smash non-stop and also re-watching my favorite Marilyn movies. This way I can just pick four of my favorite, most-used eye shadows, and only pack those with me. MAC makes paint pots in a variety of colors, but I like Painterly because it’s matte and matches my skin color, so it looks invisible on its own. 12 hours later, your eye shadow will still be just where you put it in the morning. This also prevents your eye shadow from creasing later in the day. It evens out your eyelid color (hiding any veins or redness), and gives the shadows something to stick to. This little pot of magic primes the eyelids for eye shadow, meaning you swipe some of this on your lids (I use my fingers), and then apply any eye shadow you want on top. Even all night long, if I’m very bad and don’t take my face off before going to sleep. This product is another reason my makeup is able to last so well all day long. The precise tip allows you to make the line as fine or thick as you like. The liquid liner is very black, which I love, and waterproof – which is great if you have perpetually bunny-rabbit watery eyes like I do. (As evidenced by the fact that these swatches are STILL on my hand, and I took these photos hours ago.) The color “Lionfish” is a beautiful warm brown with a hint of gold sparkle in it.

I love the Smudge Stick because it allows you to blend and smoke it out at first, but after a minute or so, when it sets, it ain’t goin’ anywhere. That was a confusing way of describing it, but you can see what I mean on instagram, here. I use both on an everyday basis, to create a sort of natural, slightly smokey winged out eye look. Which is important, unless you fancy the panda look.

Both waterproof, and both stay where you put them. Next up are the two Stila eyeliners – “lionfish”, the pencil, and “intense black”, the liquid. I highly, highly recommend this product if you are prone to your makeup looking less than fresh after a few hours time. Urban Decay also makes an oil control formula and a regular formula as well. Since I have normal skin that’s a tiny bit on the dry side, I get the “Chill” formula, which is hydrating. It also helps prevent your face from looking too powdery or cakey, because it gives you a nice dewey finish.

The reason I can be out and about all day without touching up is due in large part to this guy.Ī little spritz after you’ve applied all your makeup, and you’re good to go. People often assume that since I wear a lot of makeup, I carry a lot of makeup around with me.
